Volunteers needed this summer!

Looking for something meaningful and fun to do this summer? Maybe something you could do with your children or grandchildren – or with your church group, co-workers, or family and friends?

Kidz LunchBox needs volunteers to help distribute free food to kids this summer – to replace meals many kids eat for free at school. Children pick up to take home: lunch, breakfast and snack foods at two meal sites. On Fridays kids take home extra foods for the weekend. Last summer more than 16,000 meals were distributed.

The LunchBox runs weekdays for six weeks, July 5 – August 12, at meal sites in El Dorado and Towanda. Volunteers assist with: set up, passing out meals, publicity and social media, transporting food, prepping produce, weekly free book days and arts & craft days, etc.

Volunteers can sign up on a one-time basis, or as frequently as their time and energy permit. Civic and social organizations, youth groups and clubs, and co-workers and others are welcome to volunteer together. Adult volunteers are encouraged to bring children and grandchildren ages 8 and older.

The El Dorado LunchBox 2016 meal site is again at the Family Worship Center, 701 S. Atchison, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. It is starting a half hour earlier than last year to avoid long lines. Shuttle buses bring kids from around town. For the El Dorado Volunteer Sign Up  Sheet CLICK HERE.

The Towanda/Benton LunchBox meal site has moved to the former HeBrews CoffeeHouse, 321 Main in Towanda. It will again be open noon to 1:00 pm weekdays. For the Towanda/Benton Volunteer Sign Up Sheet CLICK HERE.
